Aristotelio Panepistimio Thessalonikis
AUTH (Aristoteleio Panepistimio; www.auth.gr) is the largest university in Greece. It is widely recognized as a vibrant centre of academic and research achievements as well as an important collaborator and consultant of Greek and international institutes and stakeholders. AUTH has 2,024 academic staff and 464 technical staff members. Research activities are also supported by numerous temporary employees (self-employed individuals). AUTH has a leading role in the evolution of sheep and goat systems in Greece and abroad through interdisciplinary research collaborations. Four laboratories of AUTH (Animal Husbandry Lab, Genetics Development and molecular Biology Lab, Animal Production Economics, Intelligent Systems Lab), are involved in SMARTED, combining multidisciplinary expertise in animal husbandry, animal health and welfare, the use of Information Technologies in population monitoring, animal phenotyping ad database management, machine learning and DSS, genetic improvement programs, animal modelling, biodiversity, farm socioeconomics and molecular genetics of economically important livestock traits.
