Our farewell to Carole

We are deeply saddened to announce that Carole Moreno Romieux passed away recently. On behalf of GenPhySE colleagues, the SMARTER project and all those who knew her, we would like to express our deepest condolences to her husband and two daughters. Carole was a brilliant researcher, recognized by her peers around the world, and appreciated by breeders with whom she had developed true partnerships, some may even say friendships. She was the key individual who developed and started the SMARTER project looking at resilience and efficiency in small ruminants, and without her this could not have been possible. SMARTER has developed and grown since it was started by Carole. All of the people involved in SMARTER will continue to work on developing a more eco-friendly and environmentally respectful small ruminant production system, thus ensuring that Carole’s dream is achieved.
